Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic ward clerk to cover a busy stroke ward.

your duties will include admitting, discharging and transferring patients on the system from ED, answering phones, dealing with patients and relatives as well as the MDT.

you will be part of a busy stroke team that has two wards so there will be times when you are asked to cross cover, you also be part of a larger ward clerking team in medicine.

Your roles will involve covering medical wards with all clerical duties.

The Medical Unit at University Hospitals of Leicester is a vibrant, diverse and rewarding environment which sees a vast amount of medical patients.

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Ward Clerk, with excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate effective team work. You will need to be flexible, enthusiastic and passionate about emergency care and you need to be committed to improving service delivery. The ability to work in a fast paced environment

The role includes answering telephone enquiries, booking outpatient appointments, admitting/discharging patients. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for the wider MD team and patients relatives, so will need to possess good customer service skills. You will also need the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and on your own initiative

Proficient communication skills, an aptitude for organizing, attention to detail and accurate keyboard skills are essential.
